About Us

The CREEC RTKC is now recognised under the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) Laboratory Recognition Scheme in accordance with the international standard ISO IEC 17025: 2005. This recognition demonstrates technical competence and operation of a Laboratory Quality Management System to perform cookstove tests. The laboratory is thus authorized to use the UNBS recognition number to issue facility reports and/or certificates

The RTKC was established as a Biomass Research Centre in 2010 with support from GIZ PREEEP to conduct practical tests, training and applied research in bio-energy. The centre conducts tests on charcoal, wood and mud stoves, biogas stoves, rocket stoves, non-rocket stoves, gasifier stoves, other biomass stoves and solar cookers. The centre does not sell stoves but instead helps manufacturers improve stove design by offering after testing recommendations. With additional support from GACC in 2012 and 2015 the centre upgraded the laboratory equipment into state of art equipment ...
